PATNA: The RJD on Friday criticized the JD(U) and BJP for failing to take concrete steps towards special status for Bihar.
The RJD said the NDA partners were responsible for the poor state of the state and that the differences in their statements about the special status were nothing but “noora-kushti”.
The party’s spokesmen, Chitranjan Gagan, Mritunjay Tiwari, Ejaz Ahmad and Abha Rani, addressed media outlets at RJD headquarters, accusing the two NDA partners of engaging in politics only in the name of development.
Gagan said it was CM Nitish Kumar who had said he would not join hands with those who do not want to give Bihar special status.
“After forming the government, the NDA partners had claimed that the twin-engine government will work for the development of the state. The reality is that both JD(U) and BJP did not grant Bihar the special status during its split,” said Gagan, recalling how RJD had raised this issue even though it was not in power when Jharkhnad from Bihar was cut away.
BJP state spokesman Prem Ranjan Patel rejected RJD’s allegations and said the Center had allocated funds to Bihar under special packages.
“However, it is true that the kind of development that should have happened has not happened. We are discussing this with our alliance partners. As for a special status requirement, it will be granted when a provision is made in this regard.”
