The NEET-PG candidates, who had challenged a 29 July 2021 notice for the implementation of the OBC and EWS quotas of the 2021-22 academic year, opposed the government’s justification to increase the income criteria of Rs 8 lakh and said no investigation has been done. executed.

Appearing before the Centre, Advocate General Tushar Mehta said: “We, as a government, would request the court not to accept any position whereby OBC or EWS, both before and after the exercise, are deprived of anything that is legitimately due is up to them.”

He said the quota notification was dated January 2019 and the EWS reservation has already been applied to many appointments and withdrawals.
