Karnataka schools to reopen from February 14

Schools up to grade 10 will reopen for physical classes from tomorrow February 14, 2022, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai announced in Hubli. However, higher classes and colleges will remain closed for the time being.

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said he has instructed DCs, SPs and school boards to hold a peace committee meeting. Until now, high schools across the state have been closed in the wake of the ongoing Hijab controversy. Now, however, CM Bommai is sure that if the schools reopen in phases from tomorrow, peace and normalcy will reign in the state.

“High schools up to grade 10 will reopen tomorrow, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and Deputy Director of Public Education of all districts have already been asked to hold peace meetings with parents and teachers in key schools to maintain a cordial atmosphere . I am convinced that schools will function peacefully,” said Bommai.

He also asked the Ministers of Education to submit a report after examining the situation surrounding the reopening of the higher classes/pre-university education and the universities of applied sciences. Based on this assessment by the experts, a review meeting will be held in which a decision will be made about reopening higher classes and colleges.

Meanwhile, the state government has announced that the closure of educational institutions for universities of the Department of Higher Education and colleges under the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE) has been extended until February 16.
