
Akansha Super 30, a PSU Railtel railway initiative to help Uttarakhand’s underprivileged students prepare for engineering entrance exams, has achieved a 94 percent pass rate over the past five years, the PSU said Saturday.
Between 2016 and 2021, the project has helped 167 students pursue engineering from IITs and several other renowned engineering colleges, RailTel said in a statement, adding the 2021-22 Akansha Super 30 current session is the project’s seventh batch. . “Since the project began in 2016 to 2021, the overall success rate has been 94 percent, which is an outstanding achievement,” it said.
“In the previous session 2020-21, the results were very good and 28 out of 30 students passed the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). After completing their engineering degree, many students got an internship at various renowned companies such as L&T, TCS and IBM.
“The aim of the Akansha Super 30 project is to transform the lives of underprivileged but talented students by enhancing their academic excellence through residential coaching, room and board and helping them prepare for IIT/JEE, the most prestigious exam for aspiring engineers,” it said.
Under the scheme, underprivileged students are selected from schools of the various districts of Uttarakhand through a fair and diligent process of written tests and interviews. The students are selected based on exam grades, their financial status and in accordance with government standards.
The selected 30 students will be held in residential buildings in Dehradun and will receive, among other things, free lodging, food, medical care, coaching and guidance.
The residential building is designed with undivided attention, maximum collaboration, healthy competition and teamwork between faculties, employees and students in mind.
The duration of the program is generally 11 months or until the final examination for admission to technical colleges is held.
The unique features of the project include a smart classroom, personalized computer labs, highly experienced teachers, specially designed pattern proof study materials, periodic tests, well-designed academic modules and personalized attention to each student by the academic officer, in addition to a safe and secure stay and environment for girls.
RailTel is carrying out this project with the help of a Delhi-based NGO – Center for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL).
