
Delhi-led Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) issued orders on Sunday to arrange the resumption of offline classes from February 7.
The JNU order stated that the university must be 100 percent fully functional and that all staff and officials must be present on all workdays from Monday.
All deans, presidents of various schools, centers, special centers have been asked to resume offline academic, teaching and learning activities and libraries for students with effect from Monday in consultation with stakeholders and under strict adherence to SOP according to the DDMA order.
The university has asked the heads of schools, centers and special centers to call students, taking into account the space, infrastructure and facilities available, to ensure that Covid-appropriate behavior is adhered to at all times.
The order also stated that employees residing in containment zones notified by the competent authority must request permission from the university official to work from home until the containment zone is lifted.
“Meetings are held by videoconference as far as possible and face-to-face meetings with visitors should be avoided unless necessary in the public interest. Efforts should be made to move files electronically as much as possible. Gymnasium and yoga activities are allowed to open, subject to strict adherence to Covid-appropriate behavior,” it reads.
Under the order, all authorized canteens are allowed to operate at 50 percent of the seating capacity from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. There is a daily curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the movement of people on campus.
The university’s security department will ensure Covid-appropriate behavior is enforced in all areas, as well as stores supplying essential goods and services, the order said.
“The University Security Department ensures effective control of the movement of people and vehicles on the University campus by installing a sufficient number of checkpoints with the aim of preventing unnecessary movements of people on the road.
The branch will also ensure that the movement of persons and vehicles is strictly permitted according to the guidelines prescribed in the order,” it added. The notification of Guru Govind Singh University states that all universities and colleges under the Delhi government will reopen for physical classes from Monday, the university advised its students and staff to strictly follow all of DDMA’s Covid guidelines.
