
Public acceptance of homeopathy is high and the field could become the first choice for students seeking medical training, AYUSH minister Sarbananda Sonowal said Saturday as part of his inaugural address at a two-day scientific convention on “Homeopathy: People’s Choice for Wellness.” ‘ here on World Homeopathy Day (WHD).
World Homeopathy Day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of the founder of homeopathy, Dr. Christian Fredrich Samuel Hahnemann. The convention is organized by three top bodies under the Ministry of AYUSH – Central Council for Research in Homeopathy, National Commission of Homeopathy and National Institute of Homeopathy.
Minister of State for AYUSH Mahendrabhai Munjpara was also present at the event. At the meeting, Sonowal highlighted that a transformative shift is underway in AYUSH’s education, practice and drug development sectors.
He said the National Commission for Indian Systems of Medicine and the National Commission for Homeopathy have aligned AYUSH education with the new education policy, attracting new talents to the extent that AYUSH is not only the first choice of treatment, but could also become the first choice for students seeking medical education.
The minister said homeopathy medicines are easy to administer and acceptable to a large number of people.
He went on to say that public acceptance of homeopathy is high and that people have sought treatment from primary care physicians for generations, an official statement said. Munjpara emphasized that homeopathy is highly effective in treating various diseases and improving individual health in safer ways, at a lower cost.
The delegates to the convention were homeopathic researchers, scientists from interdisciplinary movements, practitioners, students, industrialists and representatives of various homeopathic associations.
