GATE 2022: Check covid protocols, exam day guidelines and what to carry

The Supreme Court has announced that GATE 2022 will not be postponed. IIT Kharagpur will conduct the exam on February 5, 6, 12 and 13, 2022. The exam will be conducted in 2 time slots, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Once the shift is over, candidates can check the GATE 2022 answer key and analysis by various coaching centers.

To enter the exam center, candidates must adhere to certain exam guidelines. These are to be strictly followed and only by doing so can candidates take the exam. Firstly, candidates should know to carry the GATE 2022 admission card and the travel letter to the examination hall. Apart from this, here are the important guidelines to know.

Guidelines GATE 2022 exam day

  • Early participation from the candidates is highly appreciated. As announced on the official website of GATE 2022, candidates are required to appear in the examination center according to the time stated on the admission cards.
  • Candidates must log into the system 30 minutes before the start of the exam.
  • In case of delayed entry, candidates will not be entertained with extra time.
  • If a candidate finds a physical calculator (even on an electronic watch) or a mobile phone (even in disabled mode) in their possession, their candidacy will be cancelled.
  • During the GATE 2022 online exam, all candidates will be provided with a virtual scientific calculator to be used to answer the questions. Therefore, candidates do not need to bring a calculator to the exam location.
  • Candidates are requested to bring their own supplies as the invigilator in attendance dislikes borrowing items from others.
  • Candidates must adhere to the COVID precautions at all costs. Candidates without their masks and disinfectants are not allowed to sit in the examination room.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is a national-level technical entrance exam for admission to Masters in Engineering, Science, Technology, and Architecture programs.

GATE 2022 is a 3-hour computer-based test with 65 questions (MCQs, MSQs and NATs) where 10 questions come from General aptitude and 55 questions from the subject paper. The exam is taken with a total of 100 points. The GATE 2022 result is also considered by PSUs for recruiting candidates.
